In a world where multiple forms of communication exist, music will always be a universal language. In 2009, Riley Novak founded HeartBEATS with a mission to “connect hearts through the arts”.
Novak and the HeartBEATS team use the power of music to engage with refugee populations and build cross-cultural connections within the greater Phoenix area. In addition to essential supplies provided by the Welcome to America Project, HeartBEATS volunteers welcome new families by supplying music kits and offering music lessons that are led by teen musicians. To this day, HeartBEATS has assisted over 200 refugee children and collected over $6,000 in donations for musical instruments.
